Can't see how it might be related to Seti but one has to wonder?? Seti's outage (and the BOINC server for that matter) was related to something running internal, overwhelming the system: Nebula. Since Einstein is on the receiving end of that, that may be the coincidence. |

Good morning folks as I'm shortly off for a fun filled day at Addenbrookes followed by a lovely visit to the City Hospital before spending dinner with my 3 favourite girls, I'm reserving my seat now & due to the unexpected outage at the weekend, predict it will go down early this week :-( 13:30 UTC is my guess. Have fun. |

Ah, fun filled day at the hospital. I'm there already, waiting for the EMG, followed by an MRI. |

Seti's outage (and the BOINC server for that matter) was related to something running internal, overwhelming the system: Nebula. Since Einstein is on the receiving end of that, that may be the coincidence.I think David (himself - not anybody else) should add this information to his own Nebula blog. I don't mind the oopsie - David is attempting stuff that hasn't been done before, and sh*t happens: lessons will be learned. In fact I'm glad to be told that our speculations about other possible causes have proved to be wide of the mark - this one is remediable. But if volunteer-based distributed computing is to survive, we need to have regard to the wise words of the BOINC Wiki: Recruiting and retaining volunteers |

Survived the EMG, that one was interesting. Getting electrical shocks on arms and legs to see if all the muscles work as they should. The MRI was something I'd rather quickly forget. Brrr, if possible, never go in there again. I went in fully and it isn't as roomy as they make believe in the TV series and movies. And for 20 of the 25 minutes I was in there, I didn't have any music. Not that the 5 minutes with the music it was played loud enough that I couldn't hear the noises the MRI makes. Damn. |

The MRI was something I'd rather quickly forget. Brrr Mri rooms are usualy kept " cool " but ain't that bad unless you're claustrophobic , had a few of em in the past + CAT scans and probably emough x - rays i still glow like i lived in Seascale ;-). Hope your results come back ok Jord then it's worth the few minutes of discomfort . |

Anyone care to take a guess how long SETI will be unavailable today? I'll guess 12 1/2 hours on this weeks outage. |

We have Open MRIs in different parts of town but they are few and hard to get approved by the insurance companies. The lucky ones that are able to get in like them much more. |

All hospitals and most medical facilities are kept cool on purpose to reduce the growth rate of bacteria. I learned a long time ago to bring the roll up foam ear plugs with me when I have an MRI. Much better at blocking out the MRI thumping noises than music played through headphones. I predict another long outage and return after 6:30 PM PDT. |

Otherwise I'm recommend something appropriate for the flight deck of an aircraft carrier plus the ear plugs! Been in 3 times. Knee was easy and that one they did in a so called open one. Head was in a closed one. And they had to have me come back a couple days later as they forgot one scan before they gave me the contrast media! Oh head result was normal, empty skull*. Knee, well, have get that addressed at some point in the future when it gets worse and I'm assured it will get worse. *Sixth nerve palsy they didn't find any abnormalities. |

Oh and no headphones if they are imaging your head.It was a scan of my head. But apparently it's impossible to lie in the MRI without ear protection. |

MRI at the beginning of the month for my knee was my first without being totally in the tunnel. Still annoyingly loud. Arthroscopic knee surgery middle of May is scheduled finally. |
