And................
Welcome to the 'Seti might as well be down Cafe'.

None of my computers has been able to contact the scheduler for 24 hours and things have gone pretty cold here. So, it's not just any of you.

And also so some of you know....
Matt's response in Number Crunching was in direct reply to a request I put in.
Even though I could not post about it there myself at present.

Meows to you all.

Wow, when the herd left Jord, it looks like they might have knocked the door off the hinges in the stampede.

Might connect it to a power generator and get the bills lowered. :)

You think the friction won't be too high then, such that people like Chris S and Richard H can still pass through while simultaneously pushing their rollators?

Yes... well it might have helped if someone *long stare at Jord* ...hadn't shifted the notices around...

That was ALWAYS going to cause problems! *Slow blink*

THIS I like however! :)

Not sure what security class it would fit into though... *anxious frown (due to discovering a whole hole in anniet-knowledge)* ...perhaps Chris does...

edit: to change Chirs to Chris and to remember to say I forgot to say hello :)

I bet that when you rearrange the plants in that hallway in the correct manner, that the turn style makes sense. :)

My ISP updated the connection again.
Check http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4192365749. Too bad it doesn't help on downloading Seti, all I saw last night was 'no tasks available'.

Ah, and guess what the speeds are I pay for. :)

*note Jord's shiny new revolving doors*

Oh I DO like what you've done there!

Now THAT is sophistication at it's very best!

*pause for new (statutory - yes it's the law now people - obey it) delight-appreciation-break*

*step carefully round kitties*

Awwww... :)

...looks like they've done an Eccleston and haven't realised it yet :)

Hmmmm... *peer at Chirs's new doors* :))

VERY high security!

I bet that when you rearrange the plants in that hallway in the correct manner, that the turn style makes sense. :)

:))) And not forgetting the ones by your new door Jord... veritable fortress this thread is now! :) ... if a bit... draughty :)

...and no... I haven't had a single seti task since 9-ish Tuesday morning. So I got some WCG tasks going instead and now my boinc manager has gone a tad... rabid... *huge intimidated eyes*

I think it's missing seti too :(

I'm going to attempt reasoning with it first - before doing what it's suggesting I do -> reset project <- which seems a bit drastic and a lot impossible... mainly because it is going to be rather more difficult than I thought what with ALL my buttons having become... misty and unactivateable :) and boinc utterly unshutdownable by any of the methods I've ever successfully used before. And none of it is being helped by the fact that it keeps restarting some tasks back at the beginning.... but only after about 5 or 6 hours of run time :) No doubt tomorrow I will be popping a "help me I'm useless thread up somewhere" but I'm not going to worry about it now... so no one else needs to either... yet :)

edit: to cross out my heaping up of blame onto boinc (somewhere up there) when it's probably my system that has gone wonky or something...

Annie,

I was completely out of SETI yesterday. Today, I hit Update, and received a lot of work; well, enough for today and tomorrow... My GPU on Exeter crunches three at a time and goes through them pretty quick.

I don't touch any update or anything bottons. Things are just fine for me.
I like the old versions such as 6.58 or 6.60. Why fiddle with something that works?
None of my CPU projects have issues. When Seti on the GPU craps out, Einstein is more than willing to lend a hand. ( Zero resourse share is the ticket.)
Pluto will always be a planet to me.

Things have turned around for now, and the kitties have sniffed out almost full caches on all 9 crunchers here.

Since this is "The Seti is Down Cafe" I thought maybe we could have a kitten cafe or possibly one with both kittens and puppies for those that are not cat fanciers.

Might help relieve some of the stress when the project is down.

Someone has started Kickstarter Campaign to Build Austin (Texas) a Blue Cat Cafe with rescued & adoptable cats!
If you are unaware of a cat cafe, we are glad to explain. In the last decade the concept of a cat cafe has grown. The first in Taiwan spread to Japan, and then onto Europe, and now the U.S.

A typical cat cafe is a place where one can go, and be surrounded by several, if not dozens of cats. Cats can be permanent fixtures of the surrounding, or can be adoptable.

The first cat cafe in the US, Cat Town, made great strides in not only opening the law to eat & prepare food in the presence of cats, but also in choosing to partner with their city rescue organizations to adopt them out. We think this is the best solution, too, as their really is a need.

Why should you have stress over the project being down?
a) there's so much else to be enjoyed in life;
b) neither your computer nor your BOINC care much;
c) there's plenty of work to be had from other projects if you so choose;
d) maybe time to invest in a real hobby, or some friends?
e) or go play a game.

I have done d) and e). Still have work aplenty in cache, because when my computer is on it mostly runs ESO. And as for d), I met a (lady-)friend this afternoon that I hadn't seen in 2 years. She's to visit us tomorrow. Can't wait. (and she's really good to look at as well. and single. ;-))

I've never stressed about projects being down....plenty of other stuff to do and a family to raise...and least of all--work.
