I've been running SETI@home since April 1999, and running BOINC since SETI changed to BOINC. I've had a BOINC account (project and message board) since then. My PC has my BOINC ID and password stored for automatic login.

This evening I tried to log in to post, and was told my account does not exist.

I've created the account again, with the same name and password - but what happened? Is the disappearance of my login here the reason that BOINC on my PC is failing to download work units from several projects, or is that a coincidence?

You're at the BOINC development forums. There is no BOINC project as such, for which these are the forums.

If you've been running Seti, you'll need to be at the Seti project at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/, try to log in with your details on your account there, and I'm sure it'll work without trouble.

Each project running under BOINC has its own servers, database and thus account information. The BOINC site here runs on a server that's totally separate from the Seti servers. It doesn't even live in the same server cabinet.

Yes, I knew that. I have accounts at SETI, Milkyway, Spinhenge (now defunct) and a couple of others. My PC has the URLs, IDs and passwords for the relevant forums stored in a secure "wallet".

I had an account here, but it vanished. It's not a problem - there's nothing of great import on there. I was just baffled how come it did that.

We're deleting massive amounts of spammers every month. It's possible that your account was an innocent victim that got deleted as well. Especially when the account was made while a spam-bot was busy making hundreds of accounts. Then we just delete account ID xxx1000 - xxx9999, it's easier to manage. Sorry if that happened.
