I just installed Fedora 16 & downloaded boinc_6.12.34_i686-pc-linux-gnu. This version of BOINC will not run with openssl 1.0.0e-1.fc16 for me. I get this error when I try to start BOINC.

error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.0.9.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

I hope BOINC is aware of & working on this problem.

Make sure you update your libraries first. BOINC does not release an exact working version for all Linux distros, that's mostly left to their repos managers.

You can try ldd boinc and ldd boincmgr to see what other libraries you may be missing that need updating.

on openSUSE, it ships the older 0.9.8 library in its repos, along with the newer 1.0.0. Check to see if Fedora's repos also have it
