My BOINC was getting older, (was 6.10... something), so I downloaded and installed the newest and installed on my XP system. Tasks seem to run, no bother there. BOINCManager has changed though, the column order has changed it is now showing...

Project:Progress:Status:Elapsed:Remaining:Deadline:Application:Name

... before it was...

Project:Application:Name:Elapsed:Progress:Remaining:Deadline:Status

How do I set it back to that? I've tried dragging etc. but it doesn't work.

Either you use an older BOINC Manager on a newer client (needs boinc.dll as well), or you use a third party manager (choice enough), or you get used to it.

That's a work round, not a solution. I can see, of course, why they have done it, but to have dumped it on everyone is really pushing it. Am annoyed, if there is no official solution, I am REALLY annoyed.

BOINC 7 will sport user-adjustable columns. Plus a whole new GUI.

Dagorath:

... oh boy, what the hell is the damn planet coming to?

You ask about something simple, you get a meaningless reply. A simple enough question, what is probably a well known to all crunchers, and that.

Looks like BOINC is becoming another fun filled crap hole.

I remember when we used to crunch science applications for science.

In that case, it doesn't matter what order any columns are in. ;-)

I'm sorry. The person that helped you does not exist any more. I had a heart attack and died, but the medics at the hospital bought me back to "life" and released me into the "care of the community", which has neither the resources or the staff to give a damn. Anoxic brain injury - don't let it happen to you.

"Little things", when they change, make things very difficult for me now.

>>> BOINC 7 will sport user-adjustable columns

So, 7 installed, manager opened, tried to restore the columns order and zilch...

That is damned annoying.

BOINC 7 still has a long way to go. The new Advanced GUI is still on its way, it just wasn't released with BOINC 7.0
Which leaves room for it to appear in 7.2, 7.4, 7.6, 7.8, 7.10, 7.12 or 7.14, if not another version.

7.0 has a new Simple View GUI + new skinning options.
Other things still on the to do list are still on the to do list. They'll be done eventually. Just not in the just release 7.0 series.

Another thing I've noticed is the sort tool does not appear to work any more under Windows 7? On this system, in BOINC Manager, I can click the tabs at the top of the screen to sort the items up or down. I had installed BOINC on my wifes laptop which runs Windows 7, tried to do the same, and although the up/down arrow appears, the items in the list do not move.
