BOINC Version: 6.12.33 (x86)

Windows XP - fairly clean build.

Application: Test4Theory@Home

BOINC Manager is regularly showing "Paused: Other work running", then switches to "Running".

Looking at Performance in Task Manager, it shows the CPU usage going up down at regular intervals - the Processes are only VirtualBox.exe and System Idle Process - with occasional AVGIDSAgent.exe (AVG) using around 5% of the CPU.

I have BOINC Manager preferences of Use no more than 100% of the processor and Do work after idle for 0 (Run Always).

Why so slow?

This is the "Suspend work if CPU usage is above 25%" option that interferes, since VirtualBox is using a lot of CPU. You can either set this option to a higher percentage or zero to disable it, or decrease the "Maximum CPU % for Virtual Machine" option in the T4T project preferences.

Thanks Jord.

I'll try that.
