I have downloaded the boinc 6.10.58 x86_64 for my CentOS 6 machine.
However, when I run the programme, an error message occurred.

08-Aug-2011 16:51:57 [World Community Grid] [error] No application found for task: i686-pc-linux-gnu 640 ; discarding

May I know if BOINC 6.10.58 supports CentOS 6 x86_64? or is there any alternatives?

The error you see isn't a BOINC error, but a project error. World Community Grid doesn't seem to have an application for your specific Linux derivation. This is something you will have to take up with them, on their own forums.

Your machine should be reporting itself as x86_64-pc-linux-gnu not i686-pc-linux-gnu (this is how a 32bit machine reports itself). Please restart your client and check the startup messages - the first message should be something like

08-Aug-2011 17:37:24 [---] Starting BOINC client version 6.12.33 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu

If you could please post the all initial startup messages.
