Hello,

I have Win7 ultimate x64 installed and cannot get information of BOINCStats, it says: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

All other statistic pages work fine, but I am used to BOINCStats.
However on other pc's with XP and Vista this pages works fine.

What do I need to change, a setting or something?
Greetings from,

Did you try http://boincstats.com/?

I don't have any problems reaching the site (IE6 on win XP).

BTW, BOINCstats is not affiliated to BOINC development.

Gruß,
Gundolf

On W7 with IE9 I can't reproduce. On W7 with FF4 I cant reproduce even when removing all possible permissions to incl. javascript and cleaning out cache, front page loads fine and fast.

Yes that is the one Gundolf.
And it works fine on all other pc's, but none have Windows7.
So I guess there is the problem.

I've just opened BOINCStats in IE9 and IE9 64bit, both work without a problem.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

So see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956196 first.
Do follow Method 8 first, as it says on that page.

Fine here on win7 professional 32bit and IE9, with the exception of the world cup stats (which I've never looked at before). The world cups stats does take you to what appears to be the last user. World cup stats isn't your world ranking though, it's some sort of weighted average designed to equalise out projects that are deemed to be giving out too many credits, hence the reason why I've never looked at it before.

I'd say you have some third party software blocking the site, maybe a firewall or some antispyware program you may have previously installed.

Can you ping the site?

Can you ping the site?

Yes I can ping the site. Sorry for the late responce but I use this 1000W system only during cheap power rates.

Firewall/antivirus is McAffee, installed on all my pc's with the same settings and no problems there with other OS.

And you have no other anti-spyware/anti-malware/anti-adware software installed?

A few things you could try are a) use a proxy and see if you can connect, b) try using firefox or chrome, or c) try connecting from a linux live cd/dvd.

If you can ping the site then either something in your setup is specifically blocking IE from connecting to boincstats, or boincstats is blocking your host from connecting - I know Willie does ban scrapers.

No

I installed Firefox and in there it works like a train. In other words I can look at all the statistics and so on.

If you can ping the site then either something in your setup is specifically blocking IE from connecting to boincstats, or boincstats is blocking your host from connecting - I know Willie does ban scrapers.

That's not the case then I think. It must be something with a setting in IE8 on this Win7x64 machine. I will look around.
Thank you for your help Trog Dog. I do now know where I need to look for a solution.

Check the "Tools" and "Safety" drop down menus in particular Tools/Manage Add ons, Tools/Internet Options/Security (check the restricted sites list) and Tools/Internet Options/Advanced <- which you can also reset to default to see if that fixes the problem.

Given that you can ping boincstats and connect without problem using ff, it's definitely an ie8 setting that's causing the problems (unless macafee can block specific sites per program, but I don't think it does) - be interesting to find out what the offending setting is.
