I have been looking at the forums for a while now and can't find any reference to this or at least an explanation. I've been running BOINC for since it was deployed with my three projects, then my IMAC i7 internal hard drive failed and I had it replaced. Did a recovery and then my BOINC states: "You currently are not authorized to manage the client". It goes on to tell what to do and I have uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC following the instructions on the error message. The uninstall also has me go to some directories to delete some remaining files. I do that. I have also gone in to the permissions of each part of the install and changed permission. I have been working on this for over a week and still no results. I have the latest BOINC version running on my old slower Imac which is running the same latest OSx as my new IMAC, with no issues. I can go to VMware and run it under Windows 7, but it will not run on my IMAC OSx on this computer. What I have read in the forums are some issues that are close, but nothing that will allow me to just fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I've been running BOINC since it first came out, with an account. But it seems I always have to create a new account to leave a message, because the system doesn't recognize me.

What version of BOINC and what version of OSX please. I know we had a build problem with BOINC 6.12.8 not starting on OSX 10.4. Please include more details of your setup. Also you may not have given all user accounts permission to run BOINC when installing on the new machine.

I have BOINC version 6.10.58 and MAC OSX 10.6.6. Something did go wrong with the permissions when I did a restore. My computer only has one user account, me. So I don't know how I cannot have the permissions. I have the same versions OSX and BOINC on my old computer and it works just fine. I called apple about this permissions problem. I was told it would be best to wipe everything and reinstall the OS. That is not what I want to do.

Hi,

Am experiencing pretty much the same problem using the BOINC 6.10.58 installer on a Mac Pro running 10.6.7 w/ a single user (admin).

At the end of the install, installer displays two error messages:

1) "/usr/bin/dscl . -create /groups/boinc_master " returned error -60031

2) "/usr/bin/dscl . -merge /groups/boinc_master users DAVE" returned error -60031

Then, when attempting to start up the BOINC Manager, this error message displays and the app quits:

BOINC MANAGER

You are currently not authorized to manage the client.

To run BOINC as this user please,

-reinstall BOINC answering "Yes" to the question about non-administrative users

or

-contact your administrator to add you to the "boinc_master" user group.

During the install, am never given an opportunity to answer any question regarding admin and non-admin users.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Dave
