Hi. I don't have any PCs at home, but have some access to internet by my friend's college. There's a network of machines running WinXP, where each student have an account with very few privilegies. When I try to install SETI@Home the program says that I need administrator privilegies to continue installing. I don't know how limited is this account(or how useful would have that kind of information...). Would be great if the BOINC softwares could run without needing what I'll never have... besides, I have some friends working in "LAN Houses" that would agree to the cause...;^)

PS: Sorry for the crappy english... I'm a brazilian public school ex-student. Here, the language teaching is worthless. My knowledge of computing is pretty bad too. Must be something that I'm not considering by asking you to developing a "privilegeless" running BOINC application.
Para mim, é inevitável presumir que sou ímpar. Só não sei se isso é bom ou ruim.

Rules and Policies:
Run BOINC only on authorized computers

Run BOINC only on computers that you own, or for which you have obtained the owner's permission. Some companies and schools have policies that prohibit using their computers for BOINC-based projects.

And that's why you need Administrator privileges to install BOINC.
Also useful to get through firewalls and such.

I look after a School network and it is policy that users, even staff cannot install applications without getting support involved. This is partly to stop rogue applications and partly so support know what they are supporting. I hope this gives a little insight.
