Hi,

I'm running both Seti@Home and PrimeGrid. Because of Seti@Home's behavior, I've bumped my preferences so that I get 7 days worth of work. All well and good.

However, when I download work from PrimeGrid, all of the WUs have deadlines in 4 days. Obviously, I can't do 7 days worth of work in 4 days, and so I end up aborting a bunch of WUs.

Is there some way that I can limit this? Thanks!

Set Primegrid to No New Tasks, then up the amount of days on Additional Work to 7 days, download all the work you can get from Seti, change back to your normal amount of days, set PG back to Allow New Tasks.

It's the workaround I use every weekend to get 55-60 tasks in from Seti, while that amount of tasks is enough for my computer's needs. I run 4 other projects as well.

Thanks, but there's still gotta be a better way. We've got this high speed digital computer and it can and should figure out what work it can do. And what it can't.

It isn't a matter of what the high-speed computer can work out. It's a matter of what Boinc can work out for the computer. Well, that's probably what you meant.

It's almost unbelievable that Boinc should download more tasks from PG than the computer can process before their deadline. But does the computer run 24/7? Perhaps it only runs in the daytime but Boinc thinks it will be running all the time.

You could attach to a third project which usually has work available. That should reduce the number of tasks downloaded from PG.

The computer only runs BOINC sometimes, but it's a known, fixed percentage of the time.
