I am running BOINC Manager 6.10.56, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, with ATI HD5850 installed and driver version 10.6.

All of the tasks run and execute normally, when logged in locally. When I log in remotely using remote desktop connection, the GPU tasks will begin running (and failing) very quickly.

I sent back 150+ bad GPU tasks before realizing what was happening.

Normally when using RDP, BOINC will unload work and application(s) as the Windows RDP function uses its own built-in driver, one that doesn't understand what CUDA or CAL is all about. Or OpenCL for that matter. Even in Windows 7, yes.

To be able to function normally, your system should respond normally, meaning all drivers you are using at this time should function as they should. Which is a problem in your case, as you're using Catalysts 10.6

There are problems with BOINC and Catalyst versions above 10.2. On some systems things work as normal, on others there's problems like yours and on yet others BOINC will crash completely as soon as it sniffs work for the GPU. Very difficult to solve for the developers and the ATI engineers.

So for now the advice is: Return to Catalysts 10.2 or lower. Or don't use Windows RDP, but a third party tool like LogmeIn or FreeVNC.

You should also update to 6.10.58, as it has more coprocessor crashing routines added, which should solve some problems out there, but not all.
