Hi altogether,

I run Seti and Einstein work units, and since some time, the "elapsed" time and "completed" time of a WU encrease simultaneaously. This effect occurs on both projects.

This means that each time the "elapsed" counter encreases by 1 second, the "to completion" counter encreases by 1-3 seconds, too. The "progress" counter encreases extremely slowly. This effect can not only be seen at the beginning of a WU, but also after 10, 20 or 30 hours of calculation without changing.

I tried myself to fix the problem by cancelling the running WUs and loading new ones - or by re-reading the config or pref files - no effect. The version of Boinc is the newest one (6.10.56). I run Windows 2000, but the effects are independant of the Windows version - I've got other computers that run under W2k without any problems. The explained problem only occures with ONE of my computers. Up to now, during the last few years similar effects NEVER occured - and I didn't change anything with my hard- or software!

Who can help? Greeting ... piquadrat

In short, both Einstein and Seti release tasks of varying length. They contain different resource estimation values, which make it difficult but not impossible for BOINC to learn about these tasks. If you just let tasks continue and finish, then that's the only way BOINC can learn.

No matter how much you tinker, it'll only make things worse. So don't. :)

By means of a friend, it seems as if the solution of my problem is the "reset" button under "projects" (in German: "Zurücksetzen" unter "Projekte").
I resetted both Seti and Einstein projects - now the calculation and the counters work normally again (although the percentage counter stays at 0,000% - I hope this will normalize within the next hours, too).

Thanks for your reply - this morning I saw that "Restting" doesn't help anything:

I let one Einstein WU calculate overnight - it seems to be finished with "vergangen" 22 hours, "Fortschritt" 0,000% and "verbleibend" --- (nothing). BUT it calculates and calculates under this (not) "finished" status without reaching an end since hours.

I think I will have to deinstall Boinc and install it again - hoping this will solve my problems!

First try something simpler:

1. Exit BOINC fully and restart it. That may at times help.
2. Do a system reboot. Especially if the task in question is an ABP2 and (partially) runs on the GPU.
