Sorry if this question is redundant but I am having problems with the BOINC software. I was able o recieve my project but everytime the screensaver starts it says "BOINC is idle." What should I do to resolve this. Thanks a bunch!

Post it on the project's help desk forum. Give information about your system, OS, videocard etc. You get help much quicker there and if you provide enough system information.

Hello fellow science enthusiasts !

I am Jason and I have been a contributor to SETI since its early inception.
I have processed data for years under the pseudonym " Majormixer "

I noticed that many fellows are having issues with this new BOINC System.
I was successfully running the analysis software on windows 98 and XP.

I have limited resources for the moment ( Namely Hard drive space ).
My large systems are in storage and I am currently frustrated running the
BOINC on my laptop ( AMD DUAL 64 160 HD ).

I am also running Windows vista for the first time and I have never been so frustrated !!

My Laptop HD is not large enough to handle the mission , however I can reassign to another system. My main issue is that I cannot remove the BOINC from my system using the standard procedure ( Software Removal in the control panel ).

I am considering removing the Vista OS from my system but I have alot of data to back up.

I am a former US Army communications specialist and my computer experience goes back to the Cold War and the ZX 81. I also study particle physics and Fusion Technology ( Alternative Energy ).

BOINC seems to be inhibiting my net communications and there is no option for
uninstallation.

My System problems are not necessarily related to your software except for its compatability with the new Microsoft Vista. Every computer geek I know has issues with Vista ! This is not a secret !!

I have not studied the Vista System enough but I can say there is enough reason for its not being incorporated into military systems !

I dont know Bill Gates pesonnally, but the Army has a saying,
If it works, don't fix it !!

In any case, BOINC refuses to uninstall from my laptop Vista system.

I love scientific research and would like to continue but this BOINC is reaking havoc with Vista. Then again Vista has its issues in the first place.

Sincerely,

I would appreciate you response regarding this issue.

Any error messages that you get?
How are you trying to uninstall BOINC? You are doing this through Add/Remove programs, I hope?

Which version of BOINC are we speaking about?

Please don't post on super-old threads (this one is almost three years old).
