Large parts of BoincTasks are translatable.
It's quite easy to do so, by an external language file. /lang in the exe folder.

Spanish and Dutch are already available.

Others who want to join, please let me know.

Hi Fred,

When hovering with mouse over systray icon a small window pops up that goes into endless refresh until the mouse is moved away.

While resizing and changing the column widths the frame will disappear regardless after the initial 5 seconds have passed. Maybe a pin to fix it to the screen if one wants to keep it up for a while?

Edit: 0.37, 64 bit on W7.

Edit2: Could a % sign be added to the progress column or the header pretty please?

Extra->Setting BoincTasks -> Gadget task.
There are 2 settings to show it continuously. (first 2)
When you check the last radio button Show only over icon for you can set 0 to disable or a higher value to show it longer.
The refresh every is only for the first 2 settings.

You can make your own personal translation. By adding an entry in the /lang/languages.xml
and adding a btlang file copied from the English version.
Search for <RowProgress> in btlang.

I added a wish list item, create a override language file with specific changes.

The next version (upcoming) 0.39 will include a language override file.
So you can set your own text for one or more items, you don't like, without the need to change the main language file.
But I changed progress into progress % anyway.

Nice program, Fred.

One question. When I set the View refresh rate to Manual at 120 seconds, and have History logging enabled, shouldn't the History only refresh every 120 seconds like the Tasks view?

The History logging is refreshing every 10 seconds which causes the following behavior with the Tasks refreshing. Every 10 seconds, the time counter at the bottom of the screen changes to updating... and makes the counter delay by approximately a second. When the bottom counter has counted off 111 seconds (actually 120 on a stopwatch), it does a Tasks update which is then followed 9 seconds later by another Tasks update. By disabling History logging, the bottom counter runs continuously from 120 down to 0 updating the Tasks correctly once every 120 seconds.

The 10 second interval is needed to capture all WU otherwise you may fail to catch one. The capture is starting at upload.
The history timer is indeed stealing a second from the other timer.

Nice Program there Fred, Of course I used 0.42 and then 0.43(beta) and they both detected the project I'm running(Seti@home), Pressing the icon(Show the computer window) grays out part of the drop down menu under view that pertains to(Sidebar computer selection) and that drop down selection says grayed out until the program is stopped and restarted, So far that's the only way I know of to restore that function. Your program looks a lot like BoincView, In BV the sidebar could be widened or narrowed, Your program doesn't do this of course, I know You have Your reasons and I hope You keep on working on this program, This is a good program and I thank You. Oh and I run XP x64 sp2 on a QX6700 B1(ES) cpu @ 3.30Ghz and I'm using Boinc 6.10.32 currently, Eventually I'll put My GTX295 back to work, But not right now as I have other priorities and the PC the 295 is going into needs a cpu, ram, dust filters and some water cooling parts for the cpu.

I cannot find any controls for Account Managers. Am I missing something, or are they not in place yet?

The computer window is a different window to setup your computer.
While is has the focus other functions are grayed out.
If you don't see the window select Window->Computers.
When you are finished you can close the window or select the combined or other window and the grayed out items should be activated again.
I put the resizing of the computer sidebar on my todo list.

Can't remember to have asked before but would like in the Tasks window for the user-Un-Friendly application names to show e.g. WCG's Help Cure Muscular Disthrophy - Phase 2 as DDDT2. The User-Un-Friendly project names too, the smaple given for World CommunityGrid as WCG of ClimatePrediction.net as CPDN. This way more real estate becomes available to have the task name column more expanded.

Thx, and 0.43 works well. Barely get into BM anymore.

PS: The new option of 6.10.34 pref. "Whilst processor use is less than xx% (0 meaning no restriction) is presumably already on your shortlist too :D

Both are (now) on the list.

Great Fred,

Here's one more for the warning section many will appreciate. Now and then there are jobs that go for unknown reason into an endless loop. They continue to use normal CPU time, but make no % progress. A notorious one is Human Proteome Folding and it used to happen to Rosetta too (hence there used to be the discontinued Rosettaview util). What would be great is an alert setting when for instance a % progress freezes, set in minutes from 30 to 1440 (rather extreme). Accuracy probably 0.1% - 0.2%, depends as some jobs can have long oscillations and BOINC recomputing progress all the time, a sample being FightAIDS@home... and folk get nervous about that.

Others want to chime in to highlight other projects that suffer the faith.

thanks.

PS: These jobs do time out, but usually not until many hours / several weeks have passed.

On the list a warning when a project is not progressing for a set period of time. Within a specific % window e.g. 30 minutes within 0.2%.

Hallo Fred,

With version 0.45 I've found it impossible to open the BOINC preferences (client 6.10.36). On a second client where 0.43 was running it opened correctly (client 6.10.32), but upon upgrading that one too now does nothing. Installation is done with admin rights. clients are all service/all users

thx

You have to select one tasks (computer), I will fix this in the next release.

Anyone using the new CPU Usage feature of BOINC. When it isn't set to 0.
You may want to change the name of the EXE from BoincTasksxx.exe to boinctasksxx.exe (lower case) So BOINC doesn't snooze when BoincTasks is doing something.

Hi Fred, Your forum dissed Me, By rejecting My application for Your Forum, Thanks a lot. I was going to make a few suggestions, But why should I? I guess a gmail address is not good enough, Even though Boinc, Seti, Einstein, Rosetta, Gpugrid, ufluids and Milkyway do approve, Thank You very much...

Dear Fred: I just tried 0.48 and 0.49 both installed just fine under XP x64, But even though My Boinc install(6.10.45) was detected and I checked the box, The program a few seconds later unchecked the very same box, So I went back to 0.45 which does work, 0.45 only shows the amount of work cached wrong(too many days still), As Seti/Einstein/Milkyway/etc does not go beyond 10 days cache, 10 days is an absolute value, One can not download more work units than 10 days, period. Yours insists a 5 day cache for Seti running under Boinc will last as long as 18 or so days which is not allowed at all, Nor accurate), Yer detection routines in 48 and 49 don't want to to work right, as they will detect the pc, But then refuse to use the info that was found and I tried manually and I get nothing there too.

It's not that I don't like Yer program Fred, I do like It, I'm just having trouble with It. :D
