.48 installed just fine on my vista-64. I have been comparing it to boincview and it looks great. Thanks!

.49 will not install, it brings up my VS2008 debugger. If I position the address location to the next subroutine return and let it continue then it seems to run. I uninstalled it and went back to .48

You have done a lot of work there, thanks again!

Dear Fred: I just tried 0.48 and 0.49 both installed just fine under XP x64, But even though My Boinc install(6.10.45) was detected and I checked the box, The program a few seconds later unchecked the very same box, So I went back to 0.45 which does work, 0.45 only shows the amount of work cached wrong(too many days still), As Seti/Einstein/Milkyway/etc does not go beyond 10 days cache, 10 days is an absolute value, One can not download more work units than 10 days, period. Yours insists a 5 day cache for Seti running under Boinc will last as long as 18 or so days which is not allowed at all, Nor accurate), Yer detection routines in 48 and 49 don't want to to work right, as they will detect the pc, But then refuse to use the info that was found and I tried manually and I get nothing there too.

It's not that I don't like Yer program Fred, I do like It, I'm just having trouble with It. :D

The program a few seconds later unchecked the very same box. You mean the detect dialog.
The selection is unchecked again if the computer is already in the list or BOINC and TThrottle are not found.
The amount of work shown is the combined work per project / application.
So if it says 8 days, it means that there is 8 days of work per application.
As you computer may run up to 2/4/8/ tasks at once it's 4/2/1 days of work, when the computer runs 24/7 that is.
It's just as BOINC Manager shows the times.

Well in any case, neither version wants to recognize My Boinc install, Yet 0.45 does just fine, So tell Me what am I doing wrong?

I see You withdrew 0.48 and replaced It with 0.47, I'll try that, As 0.49 is grayed out now on the detection menu.

Ok I assume You haven't seen his, But I tried 0.47, It doesn't work right either, I use Boinc 6.10.45 on XP x64. The area I've been talking about is here(below). Both pics are from 0.47, But may as well be 0.48 or 0.49 as all 3 do not work. I have not tried 0.46 of course, The latest that I know works is 0.45, Something You did there in 0.45 does work and in later versions(0.47-0.49) refuses to display any data at all.

0.47 above, Below 0.45...

The computer is detected correctly.
But what happens is you add the localhost manually?

This may be the problem:

Help->Show Log -> check debug mode and restart BoincTasks.
look for this line GetUserDirectory3 ---- C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\eFMer\BoincTasks

That's the location of the computers.xml file.

It maybe that you get the wrong or an invalid location or that the location is different from the other version. I made some changes there.

You may override this location in the expert tab.

What??

I start Your program up while Boinc is already running, I have BT 0.48 installed now and I see no place for a password to be entered, Not one. I killed Boinc 6.10.45 and restarted It, If there was a mismatch, It's not in Boinc 6.10.45, 0.46 runs and It doesn't need a password to be entered, So 0.47 to 0.49 shouldn't either. Port 31416 is there, As BV sees It just fine and has no password problem.

Ok take a look at log there should be a line like this:
Computer = localhost get local password:xxxxxx
The xxxx is the local password read from the local password file.

Make sure the entry in the computer view is:

Computers : your computer name.
IP Address: Must be localhost, can't be anything else for the local machine
Port: should be empty. (default port is used)
Password: Should be empty. Double check if there isn't anything there like spaces etc. If it isn't empty that password is used instead of the one in the file.

The file is gui_rpc_auth.cfg in your BOINC Data directory. It's used by BOINC/BOINC Manager as well.

@Ageless: DUH I know that already... It contains this PC's password and It's one password, Seti@Home runs fine, So does BT 0.46 and before, Plus BV also runs fine, It's just 0.47 to 0.49 that do not run right, If It's a password mismatch(Which I highly doubt), then where is there another password? As I just the one file, not two.

@Fred: 0.50 also does not work, I couldn't add a PC if I wanted as the Detect area is grayed out, So I'm staying put at 0.46 until You get this solved, As I'm tired of uninstalling and installing new versions that just does Me no good, It's not a problem on My end, The mismatched password thing doesn't fly here...

Fred,

Got an indication when you're going to add the red circled option that was implemented in 6.10.34? Keep loosing that setting as the override file written by BOINCtasks does not include the line. Think earlier clients will just ignore the line when included.

thanks

V 0.51 Will include this, sorry for the delay.
Already implemented and tested.

0.50 Boinc Tasks(Does not work)

0.45 Boinc Tasks(Works, As does 0.46)

Normally the localhost is added automatically the first time around, but as you are using it for some time...
In 0.50 click on the Computers tab, at that moment you are able to add computers.
If the computer is already there make sure the password field is empty, check and delete everything in it.
I guess the problem is the location of the computer xml file, that may be different on your computer.
The old version uses c:/documents and settings/administrator/Application Data/efmer/BoincTasks (and that's the wrong one, but it may be there) the 0.50 version uses c:/documents and settings/administrator.pc1/Application Data/efmer/BoincTasks (that should be the right one to use).

That was It, I copied the History folder and the file computers.xml into the right folder and 0.50 works now, You may need/want to add some code to check for that and copy the files there If It finds any. Thanks Fred, I knew You'd be able to solve It, As all I had to do was provide some clues.

I get an error with 0.51 Fred, Strange though as 0.50 does work.

Open file:C:\Program Files\eFMer\BoincTasks1\lang\BoincTasks_ENU.btlang
Group: <GroupMenuComputer> string header in pos 115, <Computers> not found

This was regardless of where I installed BT at, Even with no info in the application data folder and in the main BT folder.

Oeps I made a last minute change, never wise. Did a Cut Paste instead of a Copy Paste.
Try again....The Exe has the same name, but the installer reports V 0.51.1 with the corrected English file.

Fred,

could it be that any of the installers since maybe 0.48 resets the history value to 30 days? I had all on 365 and just was going to look up some old jobs and found only the last 30 days is there. Is it written away somewhere. Could that be done if not for off-line browsing?

thanks

Not that I know, the installer does nothing at all with that setting.

The registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eFMer\BoincTasks\settings history_remove_days

30 = 30 days, 31 = 60 days, 32 = 120 days, 33 = 365 days. (decimal values)
