Looks like they're working on it, and have got the fundamentals back in place. I've had uploads, reporting, new work issued and downloads: just all very slowly, in standard network congestion ("outage recovery") mode.

Don't believe what you read on the Server Status page, and the message boards are still down.

The upload server has never been offline - slow and congested, maybe, but not offline.

The rest of the project is back now (including message boards) - all done bar the sweeping up.

There's something going on again. The website is very slow. At this moment I can't even reach any Seti website.

It's half and half up. I think their database just went down again, for a brief moment.

This is what the Cricket graph says:

"Failed to draw graph. Check your server's error log for details".

SETI now has a "Our database is temporarily offline" note on the front page.

Einstein also has a "Our database server is temporarily shut down for maintenance" message on the important pages.

This is beginning to look like a trend. I wonder why so many projects are having database problems at the same time. What could the common factor possibly be? Not BOINC, surely?

This at least the second time that Einstein has gone down right after Seti. Just a guess, but a lot of Seti user have Einstein as a backup project so maybe they just can't handle the surge of user requesting work considering they already have database problem they are trying to recover from.

Nice, but too bad Einstein was earlier off line tonight than Seti was. Plus they've been having DB problems ever since the thing went off last week.

SETI now has a "Our database is temporarily offline" note on the front page.

They changed it into this:

"Server Status
Our BOINC database server crashed for the second day in a row. It is in the middle of recovery now. We expect the project to be back up sometime tomorrow."

Don't know when "tomorrow" is, but I fear it will after the weekend.

We're up and running again however....
Server Status
Our BOINC database server crashed yesterday for the second day in a row. It recovered, but prepare for the projects to be up and down until we are all in the lab on Monday and give the database a full checkup.

Here's hoping it holds till tomorrow.

I noticed we were having a network dip in the afternoon and found once again our web site was being DOS'ed. Somebody (or some robot) was scraping our site, completely ignoring our robots.txt file, etc. Quite infuriating. I wonder if it is officially unethical to make public IP addresses which exhibit this kind of foul behavior. The worrisome part is this kind of activity clobbers mysql (and thus the whole project), and last time this happened everything seemed to recover, and then the database crashed twice over the weekend. We shall see, I guess. It's recovering now.
