I was having a look in the Boinc download directory, and saw Boinc 6.6.2 there,
so on a whim i downloaded and installed it, one slight problem,
i'm now the proud owner of 21 Fresh Astropulse from Seti Main, and number of Multibeam, this is what my log said, after i had already set NNT, and clicked update:
01/19/09 22:25:47|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
01/19/09 22:25:47|SETI@home|CPU work request: 0.00 seconds, 0 instances
01/19/09 22:25:47|SETI@home|CUDA work request: 0.00 seconds, 0 instances
01/19/09 22:25:53|SETI@home|Scheduler request completed: got 20 new tasks
I won't let it connect again, and I'm going back to 6.4.5

Be glad you got work. Mine is doing the 0.00 seconds, 0 instances routine on all projects and my cache is slowly going to be non-existent. ;-)
I did forward it to the developers though.

Thanks, also the report deadlines from 6.4.5 were in British format,
but suddenly all the new work's deadlines were about face, and changed to the US format.
See my earlier post, all the dates should read 19/01/09

Edit: My GPU only has 128Mb RAM, so unable to run Cuda on Seti / Seti Beta,
I use an app_info for AK_V8 and AP optimised on Seti Main.
please see my earlier post in this thread
Designtate different projects for CPU and GPU?
Edit 2: at the moment i'm running stock 6.03 on Beta to try and get rid of some WU's so i get a more varied selection of AR's |

Hmm, my deadlines are set in 22-Jan-09 format.
Possibly a setting in your Windows, keyboard or country setting?

I installed Boinc 6.6.2 on one computer with Windows XP SP3. On startup Boinc Manager immediately crashed and every attempt after that including a reboot the manager crashed. Boinc was running and work was being crunched. Also it immediately downloaded LOTS of work.
When the downloads finished I removed 6.6.2 and reinstalled 6.6.0. Now normal except my cache size is doubled.
[edit]Was the intent to have x cache for CUDA and x amount for MultiBeam? If so I guess it was ok to double the cache size. |

I lost all my current data as well as bam manager configuration. After reconnecting to bam.boincstats I got only 3 projects: rosetta, einstein and seti. I did not get seti beta, gpugrid, milkyway, lht and in looking thru the messages I do not see a request to connect to those projects even though the bam manager shows I am registered. I attempted to reconnect serveral times but only those 3 projects were notified.
I have a boatload of seti and einstein, way more than I have ever seen before.
I poked around at \Users\All Users\boinc and at ProgramData\boinc and cannot find any of my old data files.
I did see the migrate data run when installing 6.6.2 but it didnt tell me where it got migrated. Anyone know if an uninstall (or reinstall of 6.6.0) will return the missing files?
It is actually running. Maybe I shold restate that - There are two seti enhanced 6.06 cuda that hit 100% and do not have computation error. I also have a seti enhanced 6.03 running on CPU only. Maybe that is keeping other cpu bound projects from downloading.

I lost all my current data as well as bam manager configuration.
To start with you, please make sure that you used the same bit-depth version of BOINC that you used before. So if you used 64bit before, that you now also used the 64bit version.
There is a problem with migrating the data directory if you inadvertently go from 32bit to 64bit and from 64bit to 32bit.

Turned out 6.6.2 detached me from BAM!. That deletes all the projects and files. Then, when I reconnected to BAM!, boincstats issued me a new hostid. Since my default projects are only seti, einstine and rosetta, I seemingly lost all my other projects. Unfortunately, with a new hostid, I will have to do a bunch of project mergeing on this system.
I would think that forcing a detach from the project manager is a bug, but possibly it was in this unofficial release on purpose.
UPDATE: I did install the x86 instead of the x86_64. That was a mistake as I had been using the 64 bit BM. |

This seems to be a bug in the way CUDA work is being asked and it'll ignore the NNT option. How you then get other work is unknown, but David is trying to reproduce the problem.

is there a thread with more info on this? after installing 6.6.2 my queue dwindled and dwindled and after much coddling and fiddling with it this morning i'm only now seeing some milky-ways and a coupla POEMs - no einstein, no seti, no ... etc etc, all of which my box has no problems meeting deadlines for (tho i did kill an unusually long yoyo to see if that was the problem)
thanks

How to do? |

I got 200 new WUs, but boinc still requested the same size of work, didnt recalculated.

Reinstalling 6.4.5 :

But now WUs only works one CPU core and on CUDA CPU

If you have a 2 core processor, then the 'other' core will be assisting the gpu CUDA app.
I don't know why; that's just what's been posted in various places.
|
|
|
|
|

while running Boinc 6.5.0 I had 3 wus running at the same time, one on CUDA and 1 for each CPU core - totally 3 wu's running at the same time.
Anyone have a linkso i can reinstall 6.5.0 wich I think was very stable and got running without any problem

That 'feature' can be overcome by using the ncpus parameter in a cc_config.xml file. |

perhaps feature, but worked fine with 6.5.0, I do want that manager back instead of 6.6.2
as for now i'm back with 6.6.2 but have to manually cancel more work so i dont get to much of wu's |

After cancelling more works i get this error using 6.2.2

I tried Boinc 6.6.2 on my Vista 32 computer.
After starting the boincmgr the boinc client is started, but boincmgr can't connect to the boinc client.
Only tested with normal user rights.
When downgrading to 6.6.0 all files from the data directory are copied to the boinc program directory and than again copied to the same data directory.
This problem I've also seen in boinc 6.4.5
I use a boinc data directory that is not in all users, the rights on Vista where always deleted and will newly set to the 3 boinc groups, system and admin when I install a new boinc version.
Not that problem, boinc can't access the data files. So nothing happens.
After setting the rights as before, Boinc will work normally.
Problem since 6.4.x I think, eventually since 6.2.x
This is no problem on XP
edit:
date Problem also exist on 6.6.0
The date in the field "report deadline" sometime will show as 01/21/2009 and now as 29.01.2009 (which is right for german).
Actually the "report deadline" in Tasks is shown as 29.01.2009 ... (right for german),
but the "time" in messages is shown as 01/27/09 ... at the same time.

I have installed 6.6.2 about half a dozen of time, from 6.6.0. But every time it does not seem to run correctly.
Not all projects are displayed in Tasks tab (see example enclosed),and those that are don't show that they are running; Projects & Messages tabs nothing is displayed.
I have a DELL XPS 420 with:
CPU: Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Ram: 4GB
GPU: 8800GT
OS: Win Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1
Have tried installing under both nvidia 180.48 & 181.20 64bit drivers.
This is the first version that I have been unable to use.
Does anyone have a idea what my problem is?

You are trying to use a Beta version which has serious bugs.
If you want to test and ennumerate the bugs for the developers to work on, then go ahead.
If you want to run science applications in a stable BOINC environment, use an earlier version. |

I tried 6.6.2 on a single processor w/ no cuda.
It loaded about 30 hrs worth of 1 app (24 wu's) and was asking for more.
Told it "no new work" for that app and it started to download a dozen wu's
of another app.
Seems it could have been trying to settle up (even out) the dept across
all of the apps at once.
It also left several idle processes running when switching tasks.
Rolled back to 6.6.0 and everything is good.
