Several of us have recently fleshed in the page in the wiki on Installing BOINC on Ubuntu, and I think it is much improved. But we could use some help from a wider group of volunteers to test and verify that we've got it all correct.

If you have an Ubuntu machine, you could help us by reviewing the documentation to see that it makes sense, that it is helpful for the "casual" user, and that it's not confusing.

The general principle for all such pages is to begin with an overview/summary of what the page is about, then address the most important topics for general users, with technical details showing up later, or on a separate page. Keep it simple; keep it clear.

If you don't want to edit the wiki page directly, you can contribute your comments here or on the discussion page which accompanies the article. Please keep in mind that for such "talk" pages it's conventional to sign your contributions, which you can do by typing "--~~~~" (two dashes followed by four tildes) or by pressing the button to do this above the editing window.

One of the questions we are debating is whether the section on "optional tips" is still needed. Any comments?

There are several different releases of Ubuntu, called "Gutsy, Hardy, Intrepid, etc" and each has a different version of the software packages. We would like to verify that the instructions make sense for all of these. So there is a checklist on the "discussion" page for this. If your particular release has not yet been reviewed and you check the page, please help us stay organized by adding your comments to the table set up for this on the "discussion" page, again with your wiki "signature", which automatically adds a date stamp.

BOINC is driven by volunteer contributions, and this is one way volunteers can help make it better. Thanks to anybody who can help with this.
