Due to the processing capabilities of Xbox 360's, the large amount of these units (in the future, I have yet to get one :p), and Xbox Live connectivity, does anybody here think that Microsoft could work with the University of California to produce a "game" that would process BOINC projects?

The coiuld, but it is not likely.

One other thing, the nature of the BOINC beast may be such that it would cause the xbox to overheat.

Even if the hardware were up to it, Climateprediction certainly would not go down that path because of the size and complexity of their program. Other projects would have to judge whether it was worth the effort of trying. Only then would it be worth adapting the BOINC client. If MS happened to have spare programmers with nothing else to do, and wanted to use them for an altruistic purpose because I don't see it stacking up commercially, then perhaps it would be something to explore. But even then, I suspect that the projects would think of other ways to use the help. The projects are usually struggling for help and resources as it is.

I'd buy a BOINC "game" for $20-$25. I don't know if enough people would do so for the project to make any profit, however.

OK So it may not be possible to run a WU on all 3 CPU's or a WU on a CPU Each
But
Did you ever thing about Running 1 WU and SWITCH between CPU's
Say like, you have a SETI WU and it starts of on CPU A (for the sakes of this i will use CPU Names A B and C) for say 5-6 Minutes, After that the WU will jump onto CPU B so that CPU A can cool down, Later after CPU B Has had 5-6 Minutes on the WU, it will move over to CPU C! this is so CPU B can start to cool down and so CPU A will Definitely be cooled down. After CPU C has had its share of the 5-6 Minutes it will move over to CPU A and Begin a loop process going A>>B>>C>>A>>B>>C Etc. Etc.

Do Excuse my grammar, for i only have a small brain and i havent been to sleep in 20 hours

David Baker at Rosetta@Home has said that they've been in talks with microsoft about such ventures. The Bakerlab also received a major grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation too, so Billy G obviously thinks the project is worthwhile. Hope so...
