If BOINC is completely shut down could it affect my PCs performance?
My PC struggles with streaming full screen videos and drags when scrolling down a web page even when BOINC isn't runing.
I'm using a Intel P4 2.4GHZ with 1 GB of RAM, which burns DVD at full speed without any problems and happily plays back any audio file I throw at it.
Any offers?

If BOINC is not running, it can't be the cause.

Actually, it can be the case.

There are some applications that ignore BOINC's request to shut down (grumble). What project(s) are you attached to? What version of BOINC?
