I run a AMD Opteron 285 computer (runs at 2.6GHz) that I recently installed Client version 5.10.45 onto (and immediately regretted).
The benchmark that it runs is worse than any version I can remember over the last 1 to 2 years.

I run Linux Fedora Core 3 so had to install the version without the GUI.
I added a Manager from previous version so I could see what the programme was doing and make any changes.

It wiped all existing data of my previous version (5.10.21) and installed as if a new install, this did not amuse me.

Then it ran its benchmarks and they dropped from the 5.10.21 version from
Floating Point 2,054.18 m/op/s and
Integer 3,943.97 m/op/s.
Down to
Floating Point 1,430 m/op/s and
Integer 3,097 m/op/s.

This is a big drop.

It seems like Linux is getting hit for 6 again.

It is not a problem for projects with fixed credit but is a problem for other projects that I am on.

Why has it gone backwards ?? It should be getting better.

This is not a good Boinc Client to install, it did not give me any improvements that I noticed other than trashing work units and creating multiple hosts.

Thanks for the replies,
I installed the normal way I do for each new version and there is only one Boinc folder on my computer.
The computer is standard at default clock speed of 2.6 GHz and runs nothing else. I re-ran those benchmarks again after the BM had already run them but they were the same poor result, worse than my Opteron 275 at 2.2 GHz (BM 5.10.21).
Getting work is a bit of a problem because BM doesn't think the computer can handle it.

I have had a reply in another thread about my trashed work and it says that a problem has developed with a few users who have tried to do updates to Boinc while LHC has been down and the computers have been trying to upload work (which I was at the time). This has caused those clients to crash, as mine did.

Boinc developers are looking into the problem but I am still not that impressed as my previous experiences have been good.

I shall snarl and bear it and move on. A simple merge computers has got them all sorted except for LHC which is still down.
