I am running the BOINC client on ubuntu virtual machine and tried to attach to the project using the boinc_cmd interface.
When i run
./boinc_cmd --lookup_account http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ (my emailid) (password)
I am getting the following messages
status: success
poll status : operation in progress
poll status : http error

Can anyone lead me to run the BOINC client from virtual m/c using command line interface??

Are you using a different IP on the virtual machine from the host machine?

XP? You must allow under Preferences for Lan -> Other -> "Other users to use your network-connection" and set up VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 or VMnet8.
Normally you should have web-access inside your vm.

Yes I have done that, both VMnet1 and VMnet8 are enabled. What else could be the problem??

seems to be that the xp-firewall is denying access to your boinc-vm. try only short for testing to disable xp-firewall and see if it works.
which vmware-version are you using?
