I get this error message occasionally on the earthquake project I'm working on. I can't even find the message i the entire boinc source tree! What BOINC version? Message may have been removed from trunk. |

yeah, it runs "when idle only" -- since the built-in accelerometer on Mac laptops would report "earthquakes" if it's running all the time (i.e. typing shows up as a "seismic event" :-) A related idea (or a wish?): it would be nice if an application (like QCN) could request an "is idle" / "is not idle anymore" events from the core client. This way QCN would not be reliant on just these laptops, which Boinc clients are set to run "when idle only", but could sample the data on any laptop, which user is just idle "long enough". If not, then (even better) the application would have to check the idleness itself. I could imagine that a good bunch of notebooks are set to "run always", although they actually get idle for an extended periods during a day - long enough for QCN to sample valuable seismic data.
