Hi there,

I had to re-install my OS (Mandriva-linux 2008 powerpack). However, I backed up my BOINC folder previously and copied it back to my home directory after the update. However, I can't seem to get it work now. ./run_client command returns the following:

sudo lsof -cboinc -cBOINC does not return any output.

I renamed lockfile the lockfile.old prior to doing all these.

I really want to continue my project file and not re-install BOINC, which will mean that I will restart another project. I will appreciate any guidance to make this possible.

Unless you COMPLETELY exited from BOINC before making the backup, the backup won't work.
Also, unless you:
A) Copied the backup to another hard disk, or
B) Zipped the folder before copying it to a cd/dvd, the folders/files will be read only, and these will need to be made read-write.

You got it! The file failing to be opened is probably "sched_request_climateprediction.net.xml" because it's read only.

Making the files read-write solved my problem. Thanks a lot!
