Sorry if I am in the wrong section or if this question has been asked before (but I didn't see it). Can BOINC be installed on a NAS to run in the background? How?

Not at this moment. Perhaps in the future when the Superhost option has been included.

Although if it's only going for the data directory being on the NAS, then that may be possible with BOINC 6, which uses a separate data directory by default. Whether that works through a network though is unknown.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but what has the installation on a NAS to do with running in the background?

Otherwise, if you would install the complete Boinc program tree on the NAS, is it what you are looking for?
