It's still OK to run Windows 98, 98SE and Millennium, although not all project applications have support for it. And then there's the wrapper, which isn't completely Win9x compatible. |

You are allowed to type WCG, you know? I won't bite you for doing so. ;-) But yes, this is a known thing with BOINC. If I am not mistaken it is because the application is running from a commandline window, or the time-to-wait before Windows kill is too short. So the only workaround we know of is to exit BOINC before shutting down Windows. |

In similar vein, I was advised at one of the projects not to upgrade to BOINC 5.10.x on my Windows NT4 SP6a machine, (is running 5.8.something). Is that good advice? Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Okay, I'll leave it as it is - it runs well enough for now. I am trying to get my last remaining customer on NT4 to upgrade, but their argument tends to be the same, "it runs well enough for now!" Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |
