I just tried boinc out on my new quad core processor, and even when i set it to it will only use about 25% of my overall cpu.

I am running climate prediction and was wanting to only do 1 project at a time, but use all 4 cores to do it. But it doesn't seem to want to utilize all of my available cpu, is there any way to fix this?

No, all the CPUs can only run one task per CPU. There is no way for BOINC to work with all CPUs on one task, not now and not in the future either.

It might be possible in the future (there's some API ideas already) but "future" meaning "in some years". And as always, it depends on the projects actually using such features.

There's no really need for this. Just run 4 WUs at the same time. this will utilize your 4 cores.
BOINC 7.2.42 (x86_64) on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 (64 Bit), AMD APU 7850K 3.7 GHz, 32 GB RAM.

Patrick, if you do decide to run 4 climate models side-by-side and like variety, from the main cpdn project you could have a slab and a coupled model. From the cpdn SAP subproject, an SAP model. And if you're prepared for a model that might not make it to the end, a fourth from cpdn beta. So you'd see different things happening on different timescales.

Here's what's available and how to select what you want:
