I've recently begun having issue with boinc screen saver. After the set idle time, it will (usually) load, then the boinc icon will be on screen but instead of the graphic it says "boinc is currently idle"

Some 'useful' background:
PC is Gateway 700x, XP home sp2, 1G RAM.
Problem began with boinc 5.4?
I upgraded to 5.10, still had problem, read about some 5.10 issues, un-installed 5.10, installed 5.8, still have issues.

Some other info:
About two weeks ago I installed new mouse (logitech lx5), I believe everything was fine then.

About a week and half ago, I spilled water on the keyboard, ordered keyboard and usb card, I believe it was still working.

About one week ago, I installed new ps2 keyboard (logitech media?), usb pci card, and dell 1703fp monitor. I did NOT check the functionality between installs, but did do one install at a time.

Figured I'd try system restore. Unfortunately system restore gave a rundll error. Even more unfortunate, the sr fix erased all my previous restore points.

So bottom line is boinc screen saver is not working, at least graphically, and I'm not sure it is running at all during idle time.

Bugs galore in the local preferences storage of the 5.10.x series, so suggest you do a clean install and only set the preferences on the website, not locally.

Look in Task-manager to see if a science process is using time. If the idle system process gets a lot you know enough.

Make sure to have the order of things kicking in with times so that

1. BOINC is told to start after X-minutes idle
2. Screensaver to start X+1 minutes idle
3. The energy saving, delayed longer than screen saver.

Those settings were off. I reset to 3 mins boinc, 4 mins screen saver, no power settings. It didn't even go into screen saver mode. It also did nothing after pc restart.

any other suggestiosn?

It appears the problem is with the logitech Setpoint software (keyboard). I'm working on a fix...
