Good day everyone,

I haven't been on BOINC in about 3 years and when I when I restarted with BOINC I tried to access all my old accounts and work within the projects I had been working in. I was able to get all my old accounts going again except for my SETI@home account. When I tried I got the error message, "not a valid account." I had to create a new account with a secondary email address which created a new cross-project ID. When I tried to change my email address on that account I received the message, "there is an account with that email address." Needless to say I'm a little confused why I couldn't access the account when I started using BOINC again. Is there any way I can get that account reactivated and combine it with the account that I'm using now. Or at least change the SETI@home cross-project ID to match my other projects so that all my credits are being counted under the same ID.

Thank you in advance,

Warren Rogers

Use http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/get_passwd.php to get your 32 character account key for Seti. Just fill in the email address you registered with the first time (and which you want to switch to now).

Wait for the account key to come in, then go to http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/login_form.php and log on with that account key. In the account you are in now, set up a password.

Then detach from Seti within BOINC Manager (the newly created account).
Re-attach using the Existing user option, with the email address and the password you just set. And that should be it.

Thank you for your help. Will I loose all of the credits that I gained on the new account or will that be credited to the old account? I was using the new account for a while before I stopped and have a little over 4000 credits with that account.

Thank you for your help,

You'll lose them. There is no way to merge accounts. So check which account has the most credits and continue using that one.

I guess it was too much to hope for to be able to get the credits for both accounts merged. Thank you for you help.
