I recently installed this version on two different PowerPC Macs, both running OS X v10.4.10. I'm new to BOINC so at first I didn't notice anything wrong. However, upon setting the client up on the second machine I noticed that it had the ability to sort columns and that progress bars were displayed with shadding on only one of the two machines.

I'm hoping I'm missing something easy but I just don't see it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are the Display Preferences different between the two Macs?

I'm sorry, can you clarify? The Display Preferences for the OS (aka screen size/colors) or display preferences with BOINC. For the OS, they are both set to "Millions" of colors but slightly different resolution. (Not sure why it would make a difference.)

If the later, were do you find them??? I've looked through every menu item in BOINC Manger menu and haven't found any.

Yes, just that. I was wondering if there is a difference which could account for what you see. There are is no display settings menu item for BOINC itself. But what you can do is pull down the Help tab to find out what version of the BOINC Manager is running on each box.

You need to select Grid View to be able to sort columns. Accessible View revert to pre 5.10.x GUI (no sort) because the Grid View prevents the visually impaired from using their reader software.

There was a bug that caused the GUI to revert to Accessible View instead of the selected advanced Grid View when returning from the Simple GUI, but I'm not sure what version this bug was fixed.

I'm not sure if this is a bug but it is definitely annoying. (!) I just happened to install the BOINC Windows client on another host and (now that you mentioned it) saw that it has 3 options under the View menu... Accessible, Grid, and Simple.

Back on the Mac side, the client only shows Accessible and Simple. Apparently, the Accessible option is presented as more of an ON/OFF toggle with only a check mark appearing when it is "ON".

Unaware, I was simply toggling back and forth between Simple and Accessible when I "lost" my column sorting and progress bar shading inadvertently.

Note to developers: PLEASE "fix" the Mac version so that it displays all three options as it dose in Windows... which is a MUCH less confusing approach for a pull down menu!

Thanks to all for the help.

A new BOINC version should be coming out soon. In the mean time, you can test BOINC 5.10.18 (for Mac with GUI) if you want to. That's the latest development version.

I just installed 5.10.18 on one of my Mac's, and I can confirm that all three view options are available. So it's been fixed.
