Hello,

in win xp professional, with BOINC v5.8.16 (the one I downloaded by default), I have my general preferences set to "Do work only after computer is idle for 1 minutes " which works fine when logged ON and leaving the computer idle. But when logged off there's no suggestion that any work has been done, ie when logging back on and looking at the BOINC manager tasks tab the task's CPU time has not progressed. When general preferences are set to 'run always', the task shows clear progress after having been logged off.

Suggestions anyone?

If you want to crunch when logged off, install as a Windows Service.
No programs run when no one is logged in. Services do.

The title implies that he has installed as a service.
Most likely is that the idle flag is set to busy when logging off and isn't reset while logged off so no work gets done.

I have my general preferences set to "Do work only after computer is idle for 1 minutes "

Since tasks run at low priority, why not leave them set to 'run always'
