When using this command, what happens to downloaded tasks? Does BOINC first tell the project the equivalent of "abort"? Or do the tasks have to time out naturally due to missing the deadline?

I'm pretty sure they have to time out naturally. I've always read the polite thing to do if you need to detach with work in progress is to abort and report, then reset or detach.

Okay. I still can't figure out what the point of being able to select multiple tasks is. If you select multiple tasks, the abort button becomes grayed out. When you have several hundred tasks you need to abort, it is a real pain to abort them individually!

Yeah. I can't understand that one either.

You can always put a feature request into Trac. I know next to nothing about programming so I have no idea how hard it would be to implement it. I highly doubt it will get into 5.10 as Rom is pushing for a release soon.

Honestly, if I had several hundred results that needed to go to the big bit bucket in the sky, I'd reset/detach before I sat there clicking for hours. But that's just me. I try to be polite to my fellow quorum mates, but there comes a point where I draw the line :)
