Hello,
Am running PClinuxOS and using Boinc 5.8.16. Been running Boinc for 3 years, and have never learned how 2 have my name instaed of Local Host.In Boinc Manger, went 2 tab {advanced/Options}
Tab #2 says http proxy, and is not checked off.
says Connect proxy server, Configure Adddress and Port #
xx.
then Username, and Password. Is this where I would be able to "name" my pc, instaed of it called local host?
http://boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de/boincsimap/show_host_detail.php?hostid=68636

http://boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de/boincsimap/show_host_detail.php?hostid=58242
The above url has a name, mine, the first url doesnot, same with my other experiments.
Thank you in advace

Hi,

The only person who can see 'Localhost' in your host's info page is you - everyone else will just see a hostID. So it shouldn't matter that much what is displayed there (unless you have dozens of hosts and need to distinguish them).

G'day Doug

Your hostname is set locally - Open the PCLOS Control Centre and select Networking, then select Host Definitions. You should see

IP Address Hostname Host Aliases
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

Highlight that entry and choose Modify.

You want to add localhost.localdomain to your Host Aliases and delete it from Hostname. In Hostname put in the name that you want your box to be called.

I'm still using Minime .093a but the procedure should be similar for the new versions.

Hope this helps mate.

Hello Trog Dog,
Thx for the heads up friend.Happy to hear that MiniMe is working well for you. PClinuxOS Big Daddy, has tripled the Bench marks, since 2006 release. The new Kernel just rocks, 2.6.19 Plain Linux Kernel, no additinal patching.Last year Float was around 1000 and Integer around 1200.This year 2100 Float 2380 Integer,
wohoo, Tex and his gang, really keep outdoung themselves, after the ridiculous release of Vista, many are migrating to PClinuxOS and Ubuntu 7.04. just burned a copy and am testing the live c/d. Lots of Money behind this Fiesty Dawn its called.
I was looking at the contol palnel and "networking" when I was getting probed,
wanted too disconect ethernet and catch the prober, while I was doing that, ran accros exactly what you said, thank you SIR.Yes, the PClinuxOs control panel is exactly the same in MiniMe as Big Daddy.

Be Well

Doug

Glad you got it working Doug - forgot to add that you'll need to reboot to get BOINC to recognise the change and it won't show up on your projects until your client syncs with them.

I'm looking forward to the new minime when it's released.
