I have one processor, but sometimes BOINC will be processing two projects at one time. For the past two days two projects were running at all times, but today, it is back to running only one. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this and how I could get two projects to run at all times?

You can't have two projects running if you have only one processor, unless a non-cpu-intensive project is on the list (like DepSpid). Non-cpu-intensive projects run all the time, independently of other work you have.

I'm not running DepSpid. I know I saw WCG and Einstein running at the same time yesterday and then some time later it was running WCG and CPDN at the same time.

Well... I'll assume windows because you don't say, but the idea is the same.

When you see two work units running (are they both listed as running in the tasks tab of BOINC manager) check Task Manager and see if they're both getting CPU time.

Thanks. Yes, this is on windows. Next time I see two running, I'll check to see if they are both getting CPU time.

Did you actually see two workunits saying "Running" on BOINC Manager, or just saw two processes on Task Manager?

Nicolas: Yes, I saw Boinc Manager say two workunits were "Running". I didn't look in task manager.

Sekerob: I don't know what HT processor is.

For some reason two projects starting running at the same time again. Yes, both were getting CPU time.

This is very odd. Here are a few of the messages I have received over the past few hours:

HT = Hyperthreading.

Which BOINC version are you using and how did you attach to your various projects? By hand or by Account Manager, like BAM! or Grid Republic?

HT processor? Is the device profile saying 1 or 2 processors? For HT, the (WCG) recommended is to enter 1.

User advice on this varies. There are long discussions on several BOINC boards.

My advice is to try both for a week and see which actually gives the best throughput on your particular box with your particular choice of projects.
