I'm running WCG using Boinc 5.8.0 and I want to download more than 10 units at a time. I posted this matter at the WCG forum but nobody offered any solution. My computer can finish 10 work units in one day and WCG work units have a report deadline of one week. It would mean that I can download more than 50 work units without missing the deadline.

Change your "Connect to server" setting in the general preferences to something higher. If WCG uses that at least and I can't check as My Grid is offline.

Um, but you can also change it manually.
Exit BOINC.
Navigate to your BOINC folder (default at C:\\Program Files\\BOINC).
Find and edit with Notepad (or another text editor) global_prefs.xml
Change the day count in the <work_buf_min_days>X.X</work_buf_min_days> tags.
Save the file (not save as..!!)
Restart BOINC and update on WCG.

Hello Ageless,

I've experimented with different values in the <work_buf_min_days>X.X</work_buf_min_days> tag and in the "Connect to server" settings in WCG but I only get a maximum of 10 work units. Every time these 10 units are finished, BOINC downloads another set of 10 work units and I couldn't get past more than 10 units. I have set the "Connect to server" value between 0.1 and 7 but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the amount of WUs that BOINC downloads.

Jeeze, that's difficult to find there.

Try setting it in the device manager's options. And try to update to the latest Boinc version, in case it was a problem with 5.8.0 .. 5.8.2 is just released for Windows. Still as an alpha version.

I've updated to 5.8.2 and changed my "Connect to server" setting from the Device Manager in WCG but I'm still out of luck, :-). I'm only running one project in BOINC at present (that is, WCG). Anyway, I guess I have to suffer 10 units at a time, hehehe!

Is there a project-limit on the number of work units which can be downloaded? Is it possible that you're hitting that limit?

Thanks for the info Sek and sorry for saying that nobody at WCG told me how to do this thing. I was wrong, I've posted this matter before at BOINC Forum and not at WCG. I'm really sorry. Thanks to everyone!
