I have just installed BOINC 5.4.11 and am trying to attach to the SETI project (I was a previous SETI attached computer but changed Windows.)

I can not get it to go past the window where you enter Email address and password. It keeps returning a message to "check Email address and password". I have tried BOTH the New User and Previous User functions and neither works.

I have looked at the BOINC screen but do not see anyway to get an ID/password Email sent. I have also looked at the BOINC web page and no luck either.

How can I get past this so I can attach a project?

I am using Windows XP with upgrades, IE 6.0 and BOINC Manager 5.4.11.

Thanks in advance. WillB

It's possible Seti is still slow after their maintenance outage (weekly backup), but else I'd check if my password was correct. So log in on the Seti site and follow these instructions:
- Go to Your Account.
- Change your password, type it in twice and hit the Change Password button.

Start Boinc Manager if it isn't open yet.
At the top menu bar, you see Tools, press it.
(If you are using BOINC 5.2.13 or below, you need Projects ((not the tab, but the menu bar)).)

Select Attach to project.
- Type in, or copy & paste: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu
- Press Next.
- Press the radio button before "Use existing account"
- Fill in your email address (top of the page) and the password you just set at the Seti page.
- Press Next.

That should attach you to Seti.

I had a problem trying to attach to a new project, actually several projects, I decided to detach from CPDN due to problems switching between projects according to my prefs - it wouldn't do it. So I tried to attach to Rosetta, entered e-mail and password 2x and then it said error and to check messages. All the message tab had was fetching config file from the site, nothing else. Tried again same thing. Then I tried Tanpaku, same result. 2x. Tried Spinhenge same result. Tried the malaris site but they weren't accepting new users. So I tried Einstein, I already have an account on my other system, and it started downloading right away. I have Seti on both systems and wanted to join a new project, but there seems to be a problem in joining new projects, for me anyhow. I am running the stable linux version on x86, this is a gentoo system and the other one is a Debian Etch.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I finally got SETI to Email the codes so I could change my password.
Then the project setup went through.

Although I did get an error message that the attachment had an error.
But it seems to work fine.

Thanks again.
Will

Most likely due to 'long term debt' - search the forum for this.
