Hello,
Having received a message asking me to please start contributing to SETI@Home again I went ahead and went through the motions - only to find that the BOINC client disregards my user preferences. Here are my circumstances:

I am running Windows XP and BOINC 5.4.11
I am running only one project, SETI@Home
My preferences have been saved, prior to installing BOINC even.
Now, I am finding that BOINC is running a task even though I am using my computer, which should be forbidden according to my preferences.

I left SETi@Home a year ago because I was having technical problems (servers down, unable to atach projects etc). Now I see these problems still exist. Unless they can be resolved, I will once again leave this program, as I cannot have something on my computer that does not behave according to controlled settings.

Thank you

1. Seti has a problem with its new scheduler. This prevents any changes made in your preferences to be downloaded to your computer. Workaround: Attach to other project and use the preferences from that one.

2. The connect to setting in preferences sets your queue. At standard it's at 0.1 days. So that means 1 result per CPU. Set it higher and you get more work.

3. Seti changed to Seti Enhanced about 4 months ago. Its results have variable running lengths and also variable deadlines. For more information on that, see the Seti Enhanced FAQ.

The main problem at this moment is the defect scheduler.

Do know that these aren't the Seti forums. Any problems with a project that you attached to should be posted on the project forums.

I had a similar situation. Refer to [url=this postfor the answer.

By the way, the problem is not with Seti with regards to a task running while the computer is in use; it is an apparent bug with Bionic. But the post I refer to above is a fix that worked for me.

Regards
