I got a warning when updating to macOS 10.13.4 that BOINC Manager, even though I use the 64-bit Intel download, is a 32-bit app. This means that Mac will stop allowing the app to run in the future if it is not updated to 64-bit.

See Apple's support message here: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT208436

Are there any plans to update the Manager/client to 64-bit so that they can run on future macOS versions, rather than being prevented from running?

The soon to be released BOINC version 7.10 will be 100% 64-bit.

While Boinc Manager 7.8 for Mac is supposed to be 64 bit MacOS 10.13.5 still recognizes it as 32 bit and indicates it will not run in MacOS 10.14. The 10.14 betas are expected to be released in June with full public release in the October/November time frame.

Beta's in June can use the BOINC 7.9.3 test version, if 7.10 hasn't been released by then. By October/November we're already testing for BOINC 7.12

By the way, do know that Charlie doesn't decide when BOINC 7.10 will be released to the public, that's up to the BOINC Release Manager, which is a position that can change for every release. At the time of writing the present RM is Richard Haselgrove.
7.10 is being tested at this time. If you don't mind running a test version of BOINC, you can get it from the aforementioned link.
