I changed video cards form ATI to Nivida GT720. Seti and Milky way both send tasks that can't use the GPU. Boinc ver 7.6.33(64), Win 10. I ran GPU-Z to get info on the card, shows 1024 MB memory, CUDA and opencl capable. Updated driver yesterday. Seti tasks using CUDA use the GPU, tasks using opencl report GPU missing. Is the problem that the card does not support the version of opencl the tasks need? Is there a way to get just the tasks my system can handle correctly? It seems to be a waste of resources to work on tasks that use CPU and GPU, these tasks must be running slowly if at all. Not a serious problem, just trying to be efficient.

This line gives a very strong clue:
6/26/2017 3:38:18 PM | | app version refers to missing GPU type ATI

You had an AMD/ATI GPU, and you now have an nVidia card. BOINC considers this sort of change as being "critical", and tasks assigned to your old GPU will be abandoned, and new tasks sent to you.
I'm not sure if a GTX720 supports "OpenCL", or that the drivers you have installed actually have OpenCL as part of them. Where did you get the driver from - Microsoft's default offering, or from the nVidia website. If the former it is almost certain they will not have all the required components. Turn OFF Windows automatic driver updates, then get the driver from the nVidia site, do a "clean" installation (when offered the "advanced view - often in the form of a small button - select it, then "clean installation"). When finihsed installing I always do a reboot just to make sure the driver has installed properly.
As we are in the middle of SETI's weekly update it may take some time for SETI to send you new work, but Milkyway and other projects should send work fairly rapidly.

I did get the driver from Nivida. Did a clean install, reboot, no change, still have missing GPU type entry in log file.

Message 79368 - Posted: 27 Jun 2017, 20:36:15 UTC - in response to Message 79357.

After letting BOINC run a few hours I seem to have made some progress. Milkway tasks are finding the Nvidia card and seem to be using opencl_nivida_101. there is one SETI task still looking for the ATI card. The task that shows GPU missing seems to be using opencl_ati_cat132. There are other SETI tasks running using cuda50. I may have to live with the situation.

Thank you for the help.

You need to abort the tasks using ATI or AMD. Those are not going to run on your nVidia card. Abort them and just let BOINC request new work. Sometimes when you switch cards you have to go as far as resetting the project. However, you seem to be pulling CUDA capable work which ONLY works on nVidia cards.
