Hi friends,

I've set BOINC to suspend crunching if certain applications are present, because it interferes with their functions. That worked well while I've been using Win7pro (x64).

I've upgraded to Win10pro (x64) not long ago, and now I observe that this functionality seems to be broken ... when I start such an application, BOINC seems not to notice that and continues cruncing on both CPU and GPU.

BOINC runs as regular process under my regular user.

Any hint what I've missed ?

Greetings

Boinc Manager->(Advanced view->)Activity menu->make sure your run options are set "based on preferences". Setting it to "run always" will do exactly that and ignore preferences.

hmmmm, on my Ubuntu box, running this platform since about 10.04 and now on 16.04LTS, run BOINC full out, run always, and have set e.g. apt-get as an exclusive app as it can cause certain projects apps to crash due to competiontion of network resources. Sure as heck, BOINC pauses with the appropriate message that an exclusive app is running when I'm updating/patching the OS. (Always thought there was a difference with what's in the Global_prefs files versus what's in cc_config.xml/app_config.xml)

Important is that the application mask is -exact-, case sensitive, at least I'm masking sure it's exact.

Edit: Just tested on W10, first adding the exclusive app through the BOINCmgr interface, cpu-z to be exact, verified Run based on prefs was selected and...

3817 9/4/2016 9:19:56 PM Re-reading cc_config.xml
3820 9/4/2016 9:19:56 PM Config: don't compute while cpuz.exe is running
3828 9/4/2016 9:20:00 PM Suspending computation - an exclusive app is running

On run always, BOINC resumed, so that's most weird, but working it does.

Thanks a lot - that's the perfect solution.
Had all settings (CPU/GPU/Net) on "allways" - changed that to "based on preferences" and now it behaves as I want it to.
