Hi,

I've done this on many other PCs, but I can't get BOINC to connect on my new Dell laptop. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, set my Norton firewall to allow access by ALL the .exe files in the Boinc directory. No help

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,
Andy

BOINC version 7.6.22 (x64)
Seti@home project

Check your FIREWALL setting -- make sure BOINC is allowed accept INCOMING and OUTGOING connections

Yes. I wasn't clear in my first post, but all the BOINC .exe files are allowed in/out communication through my Norton firewall.

Perhaps you must specify the port number.
BOINC.exe and BOINCMGR.exe require access to TCP port 31416 to be able to communicate with each other. Both talk to each other via local host, IP127.0.0.1

BOINC.exe requires separate Internet access on TCP ports 80 and 443.

Hi Again,

I had the opportunity to exchange my AMD PC, since it was new from Dell, for an Intel PC, also new from Dell.

BOINC ran without any problems.

It seems to have nothing at all with the port, the firewall, or anything but the processor, IMO.

Maybe this should be investigated?

Thanks,
Andy

I exchanged my PC for one with an Intel chipset. Works perfectly.
