Since I updated to Windows 10 BOINC apparently interferes with the display save energy function. When SETI@Home screensaver is running and the time to turns off the screen arrives, the monitor doesn't enter in energy save mode. When I uninstall BOINC, the screen enter in that mode without any problem, as usual.
My BOINC version is 7.6.22 (x64) running in Windows 10 version 1607 (OS compilation 14393.51) and I only work in the SETI@Home project. It NO runs as a service.

Never before I have observed any malfunction with the program and I use it for several years now and using many Windows versions (XP, 7, 8 and 8.1)

Thanks and best regards to all

hmmm, went thru all the builds via Insider fast ring, 14393.82 actually being the final re-rereleased W10 Anniversary Update. BOINC runs perfect as service, albeit set a few rules in the Windows Firewall that's default on, to let through remote RPC traffic. Just an incoming rule for boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe and boinc.scr

The screensaver is a separate BOINC module (there are like 4 parts), which you can deselect/change in settings (type screen saver in the Cortana box and you get the related control panel as option), where the BOINC SS has like 4 controls, 1 being the time to go to blank, which when I got it on for testing, is set to do this 1 minute before energy saving is kicking in and the screen powers off. Can't say I have a problem with this either.

Maybe you can repost at the SETI forums where the audience will be in the know of the project specific issues.

For the support team: The second slide of "Run BOINC Screensaver for" I got on the far right where it says Never? The 3rd, project screensaver I got on 10 minutes. Preview works fine, but when left alone, the SS for the project never kicks in... energy saver just kicks in after 20 minutes, per separate power setting.

The Seti screen saver is OpenGL, the default Windows screen savers are DirectX.

Microsoft has shown lack of backwards compatibility with a lot of programs, plus they seem to clean out -what they think shouldn't be used- library files in the system32 directory (reports are out there that after updating to the Anniversary Update for some people with Nvidia GPUs OpenCL ceased to work because Microsoft removed the opencl.dll from the system32 directory).

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if something like that happened here as well.
What you can try to do is reinstall your videocard drivers, the ones from the GPU manufacturer of course, just to make sure all components Microsoft doesn't want you to use are there: OpenCL, OpenGL, CUDA (in case of an Nvidia GPU).

The WCG SS are OpenGL too... so they can run on multiple platforms. Just tested with slider 3 set 1 minutes, slider 2 to Never, Slider 1 to 2 minutes, applied and waited... sure enough the WCG SS kicked in and then got blanked after 2 minutes, to then wait for the Energy save to take effect at 3 minutes. On mouse got the lock screen... just as the doctor prescribed. Albeit, this is a newer system with ATI card. Was actually for the older laptop pleasantly surprised things kept working on wide screen hi res as previous manual driver updates under W7 always lost it with a drop to just 1024 wide. OEM customized drivers never updated (ATI too).

For more astounding things MS did, they hobbled their own Skype webcam function for millions with the AU release: https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/76719/microsoft-broken-millions-webcams-windows-10-anniversary-update

Thanks, Ageless, but I've tried to reinstall NVidia drivers for my card but nothing changed; still I have the same problem.
