I'm running OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6, and BOINC Manager version 7.6.22.

On my Mac, BOINC starts with the Simple View, and I cannot seem to get to the Advanced View. Is there an Advanced View on the Mac edition?

On Windows, I have the top menu bar where I can toggle between Simple View and Advanced View.

On Linux version, language set to English, I can use Control+Shift+A to switch to Advanced view and Control+Shift+V to switch to Simple view. I'm afraid you'll have to translate control and shift to Mac equivalents yourself.

Don't you have menu bar at all?

Hi John

You're right. I've just checked my MacBook Air, and there's NO menu bar in Simple view.

But the Command+Shift+ keys work:
A to go from Simple-to-Advanced and
V to go from Advanced-to-Simple.

Mine is Mountain Lion, and BOINC 7.6.22

Can't remember how I worked it out way back, but once you get to Advanced, I don't think that there's any reason for going back.

edit
I may have found it.
If you click the Help button in Simple view, you get this page:

If I am not mistaken, there is no menu bar for OS X, but are these options available from a drop down menu from one of the icons in the top left corner.

The 3 icons at top left are the same as the 3 at the top right of Windows:

Red = red X
Yellow = "twists and shrinks the window", and drops it down to the dock (= tool bar)
Green = expands window to full screen (and back again)

Ah, found it: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/BOINC_Manager#Mac_OS_X

On Mac OS X, the Manager is represented by icons in both the menubar and the Dock.

Click on the icon in the menubar or control-click on the icon in the Dock and hold the button down until the menu appears.

Hovering over the narrow bar at the top with the 3 sizing buttons shows nothing hidden.
Hovering over the wider bar below this with the BOINC symbol in it, also hows no icons.

Following the second part does bring up a menu:

Open BOINC Manager (Clicking just shuts down the menu)
Snooze
Resume GPU

Options
{ Keep in Dock }
{ Open at Login }
{ Show in Finder }
Hide
Quit

I managed to get an answer back from Charlie, the developer of BOINC for the Mac:

I don't understand this. On the Mac, there is always a menu bar at the top of the screen (not at the top of the window) and it has Advanced View in the View menu when in Simple View. This is basically the same as the menu bar at the top of the Simple View window in MS Windows. Likewise, when in Advanced View, the menu bar at the top of the screen is basically the same as the menu bar at the top of the Advanced View window in MS Windows.

The menu on the BOINC icon in the Dock is the same as the one under the BOINC icon in the top menu bar; it is basically the same as the menu in the task bar icon in MS Windows and does not have the Advanced View item.

It's the same with the Ubuntu Unity interface, the menu is in the top screen bar, not top of the window frame.

OK, this was/is definitely my mistake.

I was looking, (intently), at the small window with BOINC Manager at the top, and didn't notice that the long narrow bar floating at the top of the screen was associated with BOINC, and not the Mac OS.

It does indeed have an option under View to select Advanced.

Thank you everyone for helping me figure this out!

I'm used to a menu bar at the top of an entire screen being associated with systemwide options and menu bars within a window being associated with a particular process. I failed to notice that selecting the BOINC Manager changed the menu associated with the entire screen.
