I have been running Seti@home and some others for a long time now. However, I have recently moved to a new location and don't have cable internet anymore but now have satellite internet. I have changed my settings to only upload and download during my unmetered times in the morning. The problem is that I only get a few tasks and they are getting done with plenty of time to spare.

I would like to know if there is any way to download more than the couple of tasks that I have been getting so I get get more of them done in a day like I used to.

Change your BOINC CACHE settings to allow more work to be downloaded at one time.

It can be on on the web interface of your favorite project...

  • Go to your "Account page" on your favorite BOINC PROJECT
  • Then click the link labeled "When and how BOINC uses your computer >>> Computing preferences"
  • Then click the "Edit preferences" near bottom of page
  • Then scroll to the "Store up to an additional" [box] "days of work" and change the number in the box to a larger value.
  • Then click button at bottom of page to "Update Preferences" to save changes.

Next time BOINC contacts that project it will update the changes on your computer(s) and download a larger amount of work,

You can always force the update by going into BOINC and manually updating the project.

Thank you for the quick response. I've reset everything and I'll see how it works in the morning.

Do know that you can set these cache settings through BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Options->Computing preferences->section Computing->section Other as well, and that once you set the preferences through here once, that these override the Web preferences.

The top of these local computing preferences shows which preferences you use.
