Hello I want to donate some of my time on a low-use Amazon EC2 server that I have, but cannot get the CPU limiting to work.

I tried first to limit it via BAM as that is my account manager, but it did not work. I even gave it a couple days to ensure they were synced. It did pick up my projects.

I have changed the
<cpu_usage_limit>
tag in
/etc/boinc-client/global_prefs_override.xml
and then ran
boinccmd --read_global_prefs_override
. Still nothing.

Appreciate the help!

Ubuntu 14.04.3
boinccmd, built from BOINC 7.2.42

I made a work around using a shell script and crontab to turn the --set_cpu_mode off for a certain amount of time every couple hours which kinda works, but is less than ideal.

Anyone have success setting CPU limits in Ubuntu without the GUI?
