Message 70194 - Posted: 15 Jun 2016, 0:48:54 UTC

Hello.
My account stopped exchanging info with the project(WorldCommunityGrid)since April but I just realized today :-(
I checked the log and the following message can be seen numerous times:
6/15/2016 3:38:18 AM | http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ | Scheduler request failed: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates
6/15/2016 3:38:19 AM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
I read a bit on the Interned about possible solutions and decided to uninstall and do a clean install but the message can be seen after the new clean install.
Now I can't connect to the project and no new tasks are being downloaded.
Please help me, thank you

This is a known Problem with Debian 8.3 and 8.4 which was recently been fixed in 8.5. So you should update your Debian installation and restart.

See these threads in the WCG forums:
FAQ entry: BOINC: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated (Debian 8.3)
Fix verified: Solved - Linux Debian 8 - BOINC not working with WCG since begining of the year
Original Discussion: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated (Debian 8.3)

Only WCG and Einstein@home where affected by this.

Message 70199 - Posted: 15 Jun 2016, 10:50:27 UTC - in response to Message 70198.

I'm sorry, I know should have mentioned that in the first place: I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and before this issue I used an older version, 7.6.9; currently I'm using 7.6.22.
I do use a proxy but judging by the log message that's not the issue.
The proxy makes Google for instance identify myself as being in various countries and in most of them there is a difference between my local and computer's time and them. That shouldn't be the issue though as I have been using this computer in the same setup for ~2 years.
Thank you.

Something new cropped up, and to ensure this is not part of the problem, detach from WCG, if it is, add WCG back, and if the address is http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org edit the http to https (secure linking). That was for me as of yesterday the only way to get back on WCG with BOINC.

Thank you for the swift reply but that didn't worked: changing http to https didn't even gave me the change to reach the authentication page, it displayed directly
"Failed to add project.
please try again later."
Thank you.[/img]

Certainly would update to 7.6.33 [Final RC at this time]. Seem to recollect there were a few bits and bops in code check-ins that mentioned WCG.

Other than that, makes no sense... security software interfering such as ZoneAlarm or Norton.

Hello.
Moved to 7.6.33 and my experience now is completely different - not using Norton or ZoneAlarm at all:
- The CA error is gone
- When in my work network I receive now the message that I can't connect to Internet due to proxy although I'm using the same details that worked for the last 2 years
- command line adding the project doesn't work anymore - it worked for 7.6.22 when I used Tjitjing Blog's instructions - the message is that boinccmd.exe is not recognized as program
- I could add the project the normal way when I'm using my home proxy-free network
So, I'm much better now but still not where I want to be...
Thank you for all your help, I'm looking forward to receiving other advices.

You have to navigate in the command window to where boinccmd is, C:\Program Files\BOINC e.g... it's not in the environment search path, and see no reason why it should be.

The CA peer error you wont get if not attached to WCG, so that's the first hurdle to take.
