Hi, I recently finished building a dual Xeon system, and as I've been toying with BOINC for quite a long time (although sporadically), I installed it on my new rig. Well, as you have guessed, 2 E5-2670s 8 core CPUs crunching together with a GTX 970 can do some work, but then, when I tell it to stop working, by using the computer or in the menu, then explorer.exe crashes and reloads, typically screen goes black, explorer reloads and icons in the tray also, with a few missing, as always in this case. This tends to happen when CPUs are between 90%-100% busy. This happens less when CPUs are used less... so basically explorer does not like when BOINC goes from 100% to 0% suddenly.

To complete the crashing paths, if you have BOINC Manager loaded, then right-click on the systray icon and select snooze, does the same occur?

I tried a couple of times after allowing BOINC to use 100% of the CPUS and 100% of the time, and well, no, it did not crash, but the problem seems to be random, and not repeatable every time I stop crunching... I'll have to do more tries and see what happens.

BTW, this thing pumps more than 410 watts at the plug when fully loaded... (I'm French, so I get 230V at the mains, but power draw is the same).

Is LAIM, leave application in memory when suspended On/Off?

My computer does not go to "suspend" mode or hybernation as it is deactivated and/or I never tried it with BOINC running.
Still, crashes does not seem to occur any more... weird... :-/

Leave non-GPU tasks in memory while suspended: is a preference setting in BOINC, it has nothing to do with hibernation or sleep of the operating system.
