It is possible to introduce the "auto-update" features (like Firefox, Chrome and other programs)?? The message of new version release is not so visible and people don't go to download it.

It's possible to do so, and the code is even in the client, it's just not being used as it isn't secure enough.

The developers realized that it would be a security risk, where if hackers would break into the BOINC server they could use the auto-update feature to easily distribute malware around.

boinc wiki suggests that boinc knows how to download project software securely, could that approach be used?

That said, it just would be useful to know, when a new version is available (say a notice) and then a button to "check for updates".
