I am running Windows XP service pack 2 and when I tried to install 5.4.9 I get this error message
"The path 'C:/WINDOWS/Downloaded Installations/{e80F6050-46CC-9DB6-F3E407E3E086}/Boinc.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation pakage 'BOINC.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product BOINC." what can solve this issue?
Thanks

Easiest solution is to re-install 5.2.13 (if that's what you previously were running) then install 5.4.9 on top of 5.2.13 - and I mean that you do not manually uninstall 5.2.13, just let 5.4.9 do the uninstall of the previous version. The file 5.4.9 is looking for is from 5.2.13 and has been removed.

NOTE: you do not need to actually fully install 5.2.13 - just 'fake' an install by cancelling the 5.2.13 install at the first dialog. At that time the file you need for 5.4.9 has been put in place - you can look for it at this point to verify it is there. Then just install 5.4.9 as you would normally.

When you are done installing 5.4.9 you can remove the folder named '{E80F...' since you won't need it again. There will also be another folder added by the 5.4.9 install which I also removed. If the folder is needed again you can create a new one by doing another 'fake' install. For this reason I always keep a copy of the most recent downloaded install file. I don't know if the next Boinc client after 5.4.9 will have this same problem.

Both of these folders are considered to be temporary and this is actually an error in the 5.4.9 installer. The installer shouldn't look in the temporary folders for uninstall information.

[using boinc on windows xp sp2]

Stil the same happend to me, when upgrading from 5.4.9 to 5.4.11. The installation of the new version over the old one failed with the same message. I needed the old MSI and created it by starting the installation of the old version again (and just stopped it after the first screens). It placed the old MSI in the right directory. Then i could manually uninstall the old version and reinstall the new version and all went OK. No WS lost and so.
